The 2024 Season is Starting!

The 2023 season has come to a close. See race results at https://hdgyc.org/racing/race-results-2023, and photos from the season at https://hdgyc.org/about/photos.

See you in the spring for the Sock Burning in late March, and racing resuming on Thursday evenings in mid-April. Watch for e-mails and more posts about that later in the winter.

Fall races will start on October 8th. Meet at 1:00 at the Tidewater flagpole if you’d like to help set the course. There will be a warning signal at 1:55 for a single start between the flagpole and Z at 2:00. Record your finish time and send it to David after the race for scoring. These races are a good time to get some late season practice, experience for new boats and crews, and just have some fun on the water before winter.

The annual awards banquet and dinner is also coming up in early November. Watch for more e-mails about that. We hope to see you there.

The Summer Series starts with Race 1 on July 13th.

Two special events will occur during the Summer Series – First we’ll have a Social on August 3rd. Then on August 10th we’ll have the return of the Havre de Grace Youth Sailing Gumbo Cookoff. Prepare to bring your gumbo for a chance to be named best in the club, or just come to sample the contributions. The event is operated by Havre de Grace Youth Sailing, and all proceeds go toward continuing to operate their program.

The season will conclude on September 14th, and be followed by the annual Bob McVey Memorial Race on the 15th.

The Spring Series starts on 20 April! Note that the start sequence has been adjusted this year. The new sequence is:

• 1815 Warning
• 1820 Daysailor and J-24
• 1825 Spinnaker PHRF
• 1830 Non-spin Cruisers (PHRF) SA/Disp < 18
• 1835 Non-spin Racers (PHRF) SA/Disp > 18

We will also have a Social after the race on the 20th to celebrate the start of the season!
